Monastice Project

Monastice Project
Establishment of a Monastic School in Mongar Bhutan.

Background.

Of many places visited and blessed by the Guru Padma Sambhava, the second Buddha, in the seventh century, Aja is a revered by Buddhist practitioners around the world as one of the most important secret holy places. However, under recent social, economic and political transformations in Bhutan, the need has been felt by the community members of Aja valley to establish a monastic school as a religious remedy to some of the ill effects of change. In this spiritual degenerated era, we couldn’t care less but to help preserving the sanctity of Aja Ney to uphold and spread the teachings of Guru Padma Sambhava. Against this backdrop, a monastic school will be built at Chopa Gompa, Sherig Muhung, Eastern Bhutan.

Objective.

1. Uphold and spread the precious teachings of Guru Padma Sambhava. The establishment of a Goemdey (Monastic School) in Sherig Muhung will help in maintaining and preserving the sanctity of the Aja Ney (Holy Secret Site).

2. Bring about peace, stability, and harmony in a GNH country in particular, and at large to the world.

3. Solve the current problems of limited or no Monks in the community. This would directly benefit the communities in difficult times like performing rituals for the deceased without having to go far in search of monks and religious items. Performing rituals for the country, community or individual households would be made easy and accessible to all at any Time.

Project Cost estimate.

A one storied Gompa (Monastic School) is estimated to cost over $ 0.155 million.

Demension.

The structure will be 40 feet in length and 30 feet breadth. It will resemble the Zangdog Pelri. It wil house the statues (2 meters tall) of Pema Lingpa, Amitabha Buddha and Guru Padma Sambhava and accommodate more than 200 monks.

Project Support.

Today, some of the ground works for the construction is ready including the blue print (structural drawings) and implementations strategies. However, the implementations project has been greatly hampered by the acute shortage of funds to meet expenses on construction materials, workers, and other miscellaneous expenses. Finance for equipping the Goendey with important Nangtens (inner relics) is far beyond reach at this point. In our limited capacity we couldn’t think more but to count on potential donors to support this project.

Your help towards this initiative would not only generate good merits for you and your family but also go a long way into the future to making our world a prosperous and a peaceful place to live in. Your generous contribution, in capacities big or small, is priceless and immeasurable.

Thanking you for your time and consideration.
